Philanthropy
Greater North Fulton Alumnae Chapter raises funds for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) which is directed to Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta throughout the year. We sell our famous “Sisterhood of Traveling Purses” for $18.52 and collect change at Alive After 5 in Historical Roswell from April through October. Local businesses display and sell our hand-made purses for us, as well. Of course, you can always email us if you need a purse or just a gift for someone special. This “Art to Heart” project has been operational for less than 2 years, and yet we have raised over $3100 for CMN. In 2010 we donated two purses for the silent auction at National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. As a result of our donation along with others to the Phi Mu Convention Marketplace over $4000 was raised to support Phi Mu Foundation's scholarship, educational and leadership programs for sisters nationwide. For the past several years, we have participated in the annual November Star 94 Radiothon for Children’s HealthCare by helping with phone banks and other tasks. Last year a Phi Mu sister took a call from a famous celebrity who donated $1000 to Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta. How exciting! Community gifting is always big for us, too! We support the Grady Teen Mom Program during the holiday season. At our annual Holiday Party, we provide gift cards (Target, Babies R’ Us, Wal-Mart, Kroger’s, Publix, and more) to help young mom’s through the Grady Program shop for their children. We also donate to other causes throughout the year that target homeless women and children for sister teachers of young children and the annual Atlanta Alumnae Panhellenic Association drive. Annually, we donate between $500 and $700 as a part of our community gifting program.
